History of Youth Exchange Programme

Each year since 1961, Lions Clubs throughout the world have provided thousands of youth exchange opportunities at over a hundred locations around the globe. Since 2000, Hong Kong has firmly established herself in the world map of Lions Youth Exchange movement.

This year, Lions Clubs International District 303, China-Hong Kong and Macao with the support of the Hong Kong Award for Young People, the association of English Medium Secondary Schools, Leo District 303, Hong Kong & Macao, China, Lions College and other co-organizers and sponsors have organized the Lions International Youth Exchange Camps 2014 in Hong Kong and Macao.  It consists of an Essay Competition qualifying Hong Kong students to register for the camps here and abroad; and a 17-day in-bound exploritory camp with visits and activies covering Macao camp, Mei Ho House Camp, Dialogue in the Dark, Ham Tin Beach, boat trip, elderly home visit, and a lot more!

Theme of the Year: Living in Harmony with Environment and among Humans

The objectives of the programme are:

  1. to bring young people from different countries into meaningful contact with each other;
  2. to permit the sharing of ideas, ideals and cultural viewpoints on common issues affecting them;
  3. to promote international understanding and goodwill, and to work toward the goals of world peace and human understanding;
  4. to encourage respect in young people for the thinking of others;
  5. to provide an opportunity to improve the participants’ communication skills in English; and
  6. to build up self-confidence and global vision for world class citizens of the future.
